If you have dry skin in the summer, the harsh winter air is not going to make skincare easy on you. Skin is the biggest organ we have, and yet most of us tend to ignore its needs. Mainly because we feel that it is too much effort, but it is not anymore. Here is a short and easy guide for people who suffer from dry skin – keeping in mind the unforgiving winters that we are faced with.
Skip Hot Showers
A lot of things may cause dry skin – dehydration, neglect, not eating enough healthy foods, eating too many dry fruits – the list goes on and on but did you know that HOT SHOWERS also cause dry skin? We know what you are thinking, Hot showers are a blessing in winters and it is so hard to say no to them. But if you want your skin to glow – hot showers are a big no.
The hot water tends to soften the oil in the skin, and when we scrub away with soap, our natural skin oils are rubbed away which causes dry skin all over. Therefore, to keep our natural skin oils intact, we should all (especially dry skin victims) should opt for lukewarm showers. Trust me; your skin will thank you.
You can the Blanch Beauty soap to ensure hydration and making your skin lighter as an added bonus. The Blanch Beauty soap helps maintain ph levels and gives your skin an even texture. The infusion of natural oils helps in retaining skin moisture leaving skin smooth and soft. It also helps reverse sun damage, unwanted tan, and discoloring that is caused by pollution.
If you want to further treat yourself, you can toss your towels in front of the heater for a bit, so that you can wrap yourself in some nice warm goodness when you get out. Although remember, you should ALWAYS PAT DRY. Do not rub and scrub with a towel.
Fight the impulse off hot steamy showers and your skin will be one step closer to hydration throughout the season.
Moisturize Your Skin Everyday
One of the easiest and most convenient solutions for dry skin is to simply moisturize it. Itchy skin, flaky skin, or cracked skin – if you want instant relief, you need to moisturize. For people with really dry skin, twice or thrice a day should be ideal but if your skin is dry but not severely dry – you can get by on moisturizing at least once as part of your skincare regime.
Now, when we say skin – we do not just mean your face!
People often confuse skin as simply the visible areas – skin is all over the body and it all needs love. So do not forget to moisturize the rest of your body. You need to opt for a natural and organic moisturizer like the Body Lustrous body butter, or our Jar of Gentleness organic lotion, to get extreme hydration without absorbing damaging chemicals.

Ideally, if you are using Body Lustrous, we suggest that you apply it immediately after pat drying. Damp skin absorbs this product better! But if you don’t want to do that, that’s okay the product works both ways.
In the case of Jar of Gentleness, your skin is in for a treat. This product holds all the softness and soothing essence of organic oils. It is enriched with organic oils & ingredients containing nutrients, vitamins, and essential fatty acids. It acts as an antibacterial for healthy skin and protects the skin from the harsh environment due to its antioxidant properties. It prevents dry skin flakes, eczema, dark skin tone, breakouts, dull skin, oily skin, etc. This lightweight moisturizer quickly absorbs in your skin and heals it from within restoring your natural glow.
Do not forget to Exfoliate
Exfoliating is one of the most ignored skincare routines – and yet it is one of the MOST IMPORTANT PARTS OF A WINTER SKINCARE ROUTINE. Scrubbing off that dead skin helps reduce pore size, fine lines and it evens your skin tone. Furthermore, it promotes blood circulation which gives us healthy, beautiful skin with a natural glow.
But hey, you do NOT want to over-exfoliate your skin or use a harsh exfoliator – your skin will not like that. It will become red, itchy, irritated, etc. It might even breakout, become more dry or shine like a blinding light. Do not do that.
First thing first – chose an organic exfoliator for your skin. Like our konjac root sponges. Le Pur organic’s konjac sponges are full of natural goodness and are ideal for daily exfoliating. No need for harsh scrubs to get the impurities, stubborn blackheads, or whiteheads out! Just gently exfoliate away with our extremely gentle sponges! Your skin will start glowing! Konjac sponges can be used all over your body!

Start by exfoliating once every 3-4 days and modify your routine based on the reaction of your skin. Not everyone has the same skin and thus everyone will have to formulate their own routine by listening to their skin.
Now we must stress again when we talked about exfoliating your skin – that includes your entire body – not just your face. You can use the konjac sponge to exfoliate your body and you can also opt for our Sugar scrub and you can use both depending on your mood and your needs.

This organic sugar scrub gently exfoliates the skin, leaving clean silky smooth, and radiant due to the infusion of organic oils and skin brightening ingredients. It also helps in removing dead and dull skin texture. Additionally, it soothes your skin, removes impurities, and even helps free ingrown hair.
Ps. when you are exfoliating your body and face, always remember to be gentle. Scrubbing too hard will not help; it will only further damage your skin. Also, do not over-exfoliate – listen to your skin and let it be your guide.
Exfoliate Your lips
Winters and cold atmosphere dries up everyone’s lips. And we all can agree chapped lips are not only an eyesore, but they are also extremely painful! Winters surge the probability of chapped lips as our lips do not have any oil glands. This means that there is no barrier between our lips and the harsh environmental elements that make up this smoggy, cold winter air.
So how do we get rid of those painful dry lips? Well luckily, Le Pur Organics offers a wide range of care material – all completely natural and handmade of course! Le Pur Organics has lip masks, lip scrubs, lip balms – basically an entire lip care regime that allows lips to stay hydrated and conditioned. You will have soft, pink, and silky smooth lips throughout all seasons!

Drink Water
We have discussed how external skin hydration is important, now we will discuss why internal hydration is also important for your skin. Skincare, my friend, works from the inside out. During the winters, we should increase our water intake – it is recommended that women drink about 2.7 liters of water a day – so we should make it 3 liters. Men have to drink about 3.7 liters of water a day so they should make it 4.

Water keeps your system running; it removes toxins from your body and hydrates your skin. You will see results in the first two days. We know it seems like a hassle to drink so much water but when you see yourself glow in the mirror, you will know that it was all worth it. It will also keep your complexion clear and help in reducing weight – if that is a goal! You can also opt for some detox water – it is delicious!
Add Healthy Fats to Your Diet
For most of us, fats are just fats and there is nothing healthy about it. That is not true, most plant foods have what we call “healthy fats.” Our body uses these fats to produce our skin’s natural oil. Adding healthy fats to our diet can help prevent dry skin.

Essential Fatty Acids (Omega-3) that are found in healthy fats allow your skin to appear hydrated, smooth, and healthy. Healthy fats are easily available in the market. Here is a list of healthy plant foods that you can consume to increase your intake of essential fatty acids:
- Chia seeds/sunflower seeds
- Hemp seeds
- Flaxseed/flaxseed oil
- Brussels sprouts
- Walnuts
- Berries
- Broccoli
- Kale
You can also opt for a plant-based omega supplement if need be.
